The Campaign to End Loneliness

Research has shown that loneliness has a similar effect on mortality to cigarette smoking.  It also contributes to a range of conditions such as of heart disease, dementia and disability. 10% of the UK population over the age of 65 experiences chronic or severe loneliness but as our population ages the numbers of people affected are ever increasing.  As a supporter, we hope to urge Health and Wellbeing Boards to commit to tackling loneliness.
